Week 11 – Assessment 2 Recording

The recording techniques used are:

1. AB – 2 DPA 4090s, Spaced about 20 cm, the polarity of the microphones set to Omnidirectional, the sound source being about 2 foot way.

2. XY – 2 AKG 414s, Coincident position at 90 degrees, the polarity set as Cardioid, the sound source being about 2 foot away.

3. Decca tree – 2 AKG 414s + DPA, Spaced in a 120cm triange, polarity being Omnidirectional, the sound source being about 2 foot  away.

4. MS – Royer R-121 (bidirectional/ fig of 8) Side microphone + AKG414 (Cardioid), Coincident,the sound source being about 2 foot away.

5. ORTF – 2 AKG 414s, Spaced 17cm (Head) apart at 110 degrees, polarity Cardioid, the sound source being about 2 foot away.

Afterwards I Imported the files into cubase. Finding that some of the Techniques such as ORTF and the MS have back ground noise. Not sure how these got on to the audio, but I think it must have been when we exported it to WAV files and the talk back bleed into the audio. I recorded an announcement at home and added EQ on it to make sound like a phone line.
